LVE Foundation

The Lloydminster & Vermilion for Equity Foundation (LVE Foundation) is a not-for-profit company registered in the Province of Alberta. We promote economic and social equity by connecting to and enhancing community support, by working collaboratively with other individuals, groups, and agencies. By utilizing various mediums to share knowledge, content, and awareness, we aim to advocate for and amplify the voices of marginalized communities. Our primary objective is to< promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, and act as a conduit to social services. We’ve identified gaps in our community where unhoused, vulnerable, and marginalized peoples require further barrier-free support in obtaining the basic necessities of life, which include but are not limited to; food, water, personal hygiene products, period products, clothing/outerwear, harm reduction, peer support, healthy conversations as well as judgment / barrier-free, culturally sensitive/appropriate access to social services. To help fill these gaps we have established LVE Street Team. Street Team is fueled by donations, monetary donations, and community engagement. We are dedicated to building relationships with, advocating for, and providing barrier-free / judgment-free aid to the unhoused, vulnerable, and marginalized community members of Lloydminster.

LVE - Street Team

LVE has been operating for 3 years. We’ve identified gaps in our community where unhoused, vulnerable, and marginalized peoples require further barrier-free support in obtaining critical needs, which include but are not limited to; food, water, personal hygiene products, advocacy support, clothing/outerwear, harm reduction, and transportation. We also promote recreation, judgment / barrier-free peer support, healthy conversations, a trauma-informed environment, and culturally sensitive/appropriate access.

To help fill the identified gaps we established LVE Street Team in the Summer of 2022. It started by simply providing water on hot summer days to the downtown unhoused population. Street Team has evolved quickly into a passionate volunteer group that provides a multitude of services to at-risk populations. We are fueled by donations, monetary donations, grants, and community collaborations and engagement. We are dedicated to building healthy relationships with, advocating for, and providing barrier-free / judgment-free aid to the unhoused, vulnerable, and marginalized community members of Lloydminster and area. We consist of 13 regular volunteers along with many casual volunteers. One of our continuous services is providing a hot meal once a week, harm reduction, hampers, clothing, and bagged lunches twice a week to the community. We also provide emergency shelter navigation, support referrals, out-of and in-town appointment transportation, city relocation, rescue pick-up, hamper distribution, and more. Sundays is our in-house program located at the Residents in Recovery facility and Thursdays is an outreach service where we go to locations with a high unhoused population. Throughout the week we are distributing hampers and providing transportation for those in need.
